The size of the reverb is smaller than Drum Room.
Small Studio- Once again, imagine yourself in one. If you think you want more reverb when you test out Drum Room, then Drum Room should do the trick. Its reverb is slightly higher than the Drum Room, but still significantly lower than the Cathedral. Large Hall- Large Hall is more similar to the Drum Room preset than the Cathedral. You can expect this preset to be a little above noticeable reverb. In this effect, all of the knobs that are in Fruity Reverb 2 are lowered. If you can’t, then what this preset offers is the largest reverb from all the presets.ĭrum Room- The Drum Room effect is much less reverb compared with the Cathedral effect. I will list each one and the basic idea of what you are creating from your vocalĬathedral- Imagine yourself in a Cathedral.
The presets given are Cathedral, Drum Room, Large Hall, Small Studio, and The Venue. Reverb has many presets which you can use just by clicking, and the type of reverb you select relates to the preset. Right click the left and right arrows to get the Presets of the Reverb But in the long run, that vocal with overdone reverb will most likely mix well with the beat you have on it. Overdoing reverb is very common because of how much effect it puts on the vocal and how amazing it sounds when you first hear it. This may be a weird reason, but trust me. Beginners tend to overdo the Reverb because of the excitement that revolves around it. So the echoes are subtle if you try to hear the echo seperate from the original sound.įor beginners, I recommend you guys to play around with the delay first because it is simpler to use. Now do not over emphasize the word “echo” too much because the echoes are usually 100 milliseconds apart if you set them that way (It’s also what most mixers use, or in that some sort of range). Essentially, in the most basic way, the question to ask yourself is, do I want and echo effect or an effect where one sound sounds like ten of the same sounds blended in one another. What depends is what YOU want to do with your vocals. A reverb would have more of those echo’s “blended” together. In simpler terms, what you should have processed I your head is that delays are multiple while a reverbs are one effect! I couldn’t find a picture of the cave example, so here’s a more visual example of bat. I hope that made the definitions clearer, as you can see with this analogy, they do work side by side and relate to one another. When you make the same sound over and over, and the echoes keep coming back, then you have made a Reverberation of the sound when the sounds blend.
Pretend you are in a cave and make a sound. To explain it more clearly, consider this analogy. Notice the orange and green line overlap one another for an echo effect and eventually and reverb effect The effect also produces a “fuller” vocal. On the other hand, Delay is one or two sounds, usually a copy of the original sound, where it repeats at a later time. Reverb is when multiple sounds blend to one sound to make the vocal more “fuller”. Yes, they are both vocal fillers, but the way they mix your vocal are actually totally different. Reverb and Delay get mix up together because of how closely relatable they are to one another in their functionality.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REVERB AND DELAY HOW TO
I will talk about the difference between the two, when you might want to use one more than the other, and most importantly, HOW TO USE THEM! The list ranges from artist like Future to producers like Metro Boomin. What I mean by that is that it makes the vocal more dynamic rather than simple. In general, both the Reverb and Delay makes your vocal more fuller in “space”. They both work differently, but the outcome from both are very similar. Reverb and Delay are different, yet similar. What’s up guys! This weeks post on LEARNING VOCAL ENGINEERING is on Reverb and Delay.
